Campaign Tips & Best Practices
Opt-out text, message content, audience, and timing guidance for successful campaigns
A few practices make campaigns more effective and keep your sending compliant. The most important one is opt-out text in every message footer.
Opt-out & unsubscribe
Add opt-out text to your broadcast messages so contacts can stop receiving campaigns:
Reply STOP to stop receiving these messages.Bouncer automatically recognizes opt-out replies and marks the contact as opted out — they are then skipped from all future campaigns and tracked as suppressions, not failures.
Bouncer matches the exact keywords stop, unsubscribe, opt out, optout, and remove me. The match is on the whole message, so a customer must reply with the keyword alone — "stop please" or "STOP to stop receiving" will not match. Tell customers to reply with just the keyword.
- Contacts who opted out still appear in your contact list with their opt-out status.
- Admins can also block a contact manually (Contacts → block), which applies the same opt-out flag.
- Campaigns respect opt-outs by default (
respectmode). A campaign can be configured to force-enroll opted-out contacts instead — use this only in genuine edge cases; the default behavior is the right one for almost everyone.
Cloud API compliance
Meta Cloud API is stricter: marketing templates must include an opt-out, or Meta will reject them at review. The same footer text above satisfies both Meta's requirement and Bouncer's STOP handling, so put it in the template body or footer.
Message content
- Lead with the value — customers skim. State the offer or action in the first line.
- One clear call to action — one link or button per message beats several.
- Keep it short — a few sentences; longer messages get lower engagement.
- Use the footer for housekeeping — opt-out text, business name, or a support contact.
- Avoid spam triggers — ALL CAPS, excessive punctuation, and emoji walls can get messages filtered or templates rejected.

- Send to a real segment — campaigns succeed by reaching people who will engage, not by maximum volume.
- Keep your list clean — remove invalid or unresponsive numbers before launching. Bouncer skips blocked contacts automatically.
- Respect recent-contact suppression — contacts enrolled in another campaign within the recent window are skipped to avoid double-messaging.
- Check the preview before sending — confirm the audience count and message render before hitting send.
Timing & frequency
- Send when your audience is awake — campaigns are usually quicker to read in the morning or early evening.
- Don't over-send — a contact who hears from you every few days stops paying attention; a week or more between campaigns is a common rhythm.
- Reuse successful campaigns — once a message performs well, adapt it instead of writing from scratch.
