Collection Mode
Store messages in Bouncer without forwarding
Collection mode stores incoming messages in Bouncer so you can view and respond to them from the team inbox. No external URL or integration needed.
When to use Collection mode
- You're using Bouncer's team inbox as your primary chat interface
- You don't need messages forwarded to external systems
- You want to get started quickly without any setup
How it works
- A message arrives from WhatsApp
- Bouncer stores the message and creates/updates the contact
- The message appears in your team inbox
- Your team can view and respond directly
Setting up Collection mode
Collection mode is the default when you connect a new WhatsApp number. To switch an existing endpoint:
- Go to Webhook Endpoints in the sidebar
- Click on your endpoint
- Select Collection mode
- Click Save
What gets stored
In Collection mode, Bouncer stores:
- Message content (text, media, documents)
- Sender information (phone number, profile name)
- Timestamps and message status
- Contact details for your CRM
Limitations
- Messages are not forwarded to external systems
- Batching and retry settings don't apply (nothing to forward)
- You'll need to use Bouncer's inbox to see messages
Switching from Collection mode
You can switch to Forwarding or Workflow mode anytime. Your stored messages remain accessible - only future routing changes.
