Troubleshooting common WhatsApp and Evolution API connection problems


My WhatsApp instance shows "disconnected"

This usually means the Evolution API session expired or the phone lost connection. Try these steps:

  1. Go to Integrations → WhatsApp Connections
  2. Click the disconnected instance
  3. Click Reconnect and scan the QR code with your phone

Messages aren't being received

Check the following:

  • Instance status — Must show "connected" in Integrations
  • Webhook configured — Evolution API must have the Bouncer webhook URL set
  • Phone online — WhatsApp Web requires your phone to have internet access

Why was my WhatsApp number banned?

WhatsApp actively detects automation. To reduce the risk:

  • Avoid sending the same message to many contacts rapidly
  • Warm up new numbers gradually
  • Don't send to people who haven't opted in
  • Consider the WhatsApp Business API for high-volume sending

Can I use the official WhatsApp Business API?

Support for the official Cloud API is on our roadmap. Currently, Bouncer uses Evolution API (unofficial) for WhatsApp integration.
